Founded 74 years ago by Fred B. Alcock, Amateur Players of Sherborne are a familiar part of the Sherborne arts scene. We present plays, musicals and revues, and to date we have completed over 120 productions. With a current membership of around 100 we regularly stage two major productions every year, and sometimes more. We aim to put on productions of the highest possible standard of excellence and professionalism and our efforts are usually well rewarded. Audiences are generally highly appreciative of our hard work, and over the years we have won a number of awards.
New members are always welcome. As well as actors we always need people willing to help backstage with such tasks as scenery construction, props, costumes, lighting, sound, publicity, and front-of-house. And, in addition to productions, we keep ourselves involved and entertained in a variety of other ways. Among the varied events that make up our annual programme are play readings, workshops, musical evenings, and parties.
