The Boscombe Cliff Bowls Club, founded in 1904, was the second Lawn Bowls Club in Bournemouth. Our Green and Clubhouse are situated at the corner of Woodlands Avenue and Southbourne Overcliff Drive.
Boscombe Cliff is a private club and prides itself that many newcomers have been encouraged to try the game on our green: some have become members, whilst other holiday makers have gone back home and joined other clubs in England.
Our Public Green owned by the Bournemouth Council is managed by our club members who provide stewards through out the season. Any one can bowl here for a reasonable fee by contacting todays steward 01202 427810.
The Pavillion was erected in 1927 with Café facilities which are open to the general public as well as our members from 09.00 to 17.00 April to September.
2009 saw Captain Russell Morgan and his Team become the National Top Club Champions at Worthing by overcoming Milton Regis 3-2 and Bristol 5-0. The success was however shortlived as they lost to Moordown in the preliminary round the next year.
The Shelley Park Mixed Bowls Club members have played on our green since the closure of theirs in Shelley Park.
